Discernment at the Crossroads
Venus, Chiron, the Lunar Nodes & the sacred pause of a Void Moon
Sometimes astrology isn’t asking us to let go. Sometimes it’s asking us to discern.
You may hear astrologers understandably focusing on Venus’ conjunction with the South Node, suggesting this as a time when relationships may end – whether romantic, professional or otherwise. Certainly, that can happen. But I don’t think that’s the heart of this sky story.
Venus, newly in Virgo, isn’t interested in throwing things away for the sake of change. Virgo refines. She separates the wheat from the chaff. She evaluates what is healthy, what is life-giving, and what still deserves our time, energy & devotion.
Before Venus arrived at the South Node, she formed a beautiful trine to Chiron. Healing entered the story before discernment did.
Now today we’re moving through a twelve-hour Void Moon, and I find that timing fascinating. Rather than rushing us toward the next event, the sky gives us a sacred pause to reflect, integrate & notice what’s already shifted within us.
Sometimes the most meaningful work doesn’t happen while the planets are making exact aspects. It happens afterward, when the heart has an opportunity to digest & begin understanding what it has just experienced.
Later today, the Moon enters Gemini and immediately engages the story Venus has already begun. La Luna squares the nodal axis & then Venus herself, inviting our emotions & our minds into the conversation. Questions naturally arise. We begin examining where our values, feelings & future direction intersect. A supportive sextile to Jupiter then broadens our perspective, reminding us that wisdom often arrives through curiosity rather than certainty.
And then, Chiron steps back into the center of the story, forming a harmonious trine to the South Node, where Venus still lingers, and a sextile of opportunity to the North Node as it completes its final weeks in Pisces.
To me, this doesn’t feel like healing that asks us to erase the past. It feels like an invitation to honor it – every disappointment, every relationship, every success, every heartbreak. Not so we carry it all forward, but because each experience has offered something worth harvesting.
The South Node holds the wisdom we’ve already earned. Virgo helps us distinguish what truly nourishes us from what has simply become familiar. Chiron reminds us that even our wounds have been teachers. And the North Node invites us to carry that hard-won wisdom into the future with greater compassion, clarity & intention.
So instead of this being a story about endings, perhaps it’s a story about refinement. About blessing the road that brought us here – even the difficult stretches – while choosing with greater care what deserves to accompany us into our next chapter.
