Why NASA Will Fire Three Rockets At The Solar Eclipse

NASA has announced it will fire three scientific sounding rockets into the moon’s shadow on Monday, April 8 during a partial solar eclipse across North America.
In what will be a total solar eclipse for a 115 miles-wide path through parts of Mexico, 15 U.S. states and Canada and a partial solar eclipse for the entire Americas, the event will see a sudden drop in sunlight.

The space agency’s project, Atmospheric Perturbations Around The Eclipse Path, will investigate how that drop in sunlight and temperature affects Earth’s upper atmosphere. APEP is named after the serpent deity from ancient Egyptian mythology, nemesis of the sun deity Ra, according to NASA.
NASA’s suborbital rockets won’t launch into totality. Instead they’ll go from Wallops Flight Facility in Wallops Island, Virginia, from where 81% of the sun will be blocked by the moon. That moment will happen at 15:33 EST, though the eclipse will take part between 14:06 and 16:33.
However, this won’t be the first simultaneous measurements taken from different locations in a very special layer of Earth’s atmosphere during a solar eclipse.
On Saturday, October 14 at 10:00 a.m, 10:35 a.m and 11:10 a.m. MT, the same three rockets were launched into the moon’s shadow during another partial solar eclipse. They launched from White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico, where a 90% partial solar eclipse took place, reached altitudes of 216 miles, 219 miles and 218 miles.
All three scientific payloads were successfully recovered to be reflown from Wallops Flight Facility for the second part of the APEP experiment. Just as from New Mexico, the rockets will launch before, during and after the peak of the eclipse.
“Each rocket will eject four secondary instruments the size of a two-liter soda bottle that also measure the same data points, so it’s similar to results from fifteen rockets, while only launching three,” said Aroh Barjatya, a professor of engineering physics at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida, where he directs the Space and Atmospheric Instrumentation Lab.
The point of APEP is to look for perturbations—changes in the Earth’s atmosphere—during the eclipse, with four small scientific instruments measuring changes in electric and magnetic fields, density and temperature. The rockets will enter the ionosphere, where the air becomes electric. It’s here that ions and electrons wax and wane in temperature and density at sunrise and sunset. It’s expected that the rapid eclipse of the sun will see waves ripple through the ionosphere.
“It’s an electrified region that reflects and refracts radio signals, and also impacts satellite communications as the signals pass through,” said Barjatya. “Understanding the ionosphere and developing models to help us predict disturbances is crucial to making sure our increasingly communication-dependent world operates smoothly.”

But this month’s experiments proved the beam trajectory was off as it did complete a full circle.
But after tinkering with the mechanics, the team watched in wonder as the beam circled the accelerator in less than 20 minutes.
At full power, trillions of protons will race around the LHC accelerator ring 11,245 times a second and travel just seven miles per hour less than the speed of light.
On April 8, the team will send the beams through the tunnel where they will collide.
The team will be on the hunt for dark matter, which makes up around 28 percent of our massive universe – but it has never been seen or proven.
This work will give them insights into the formation of the universe and even its ultimate fate.
The experiment is scheduled to occur the same day as the Great North American Solare Eclipse.
The total solar occurs when the moon completely blocks the face of the sun, briefly turning the outdoors dark during the daytime.
The spectacle will be visible to an estimated 32 million people along a narrow path through North and Central America.
It will mark the first total a solar eclipse will be seen in the US since August 2017.
The purpose of LHC is to let scientists test predictions of different particle physics, including measuring the properties of the Higgs boson or God particle, which was a missing piece in the jigsaw for physicists in trying to understand how the universe works.
Scientists believe that a fraction of a second after the Big Bang that gave birth to the universe, an invisible energy field, called the Higgs field, formed.
As particles passed through the field, they picked up mass, giving them size and shape and allowing them to form the atoms that make up you, everything around you and everything in the universe.
This was the theory proposed in 1964 by former grammar school boy Professor Higgs that has now been confirmed.
And while the particles near instantly decayed during the LHC experiment, scientists found they left a footprint behind revealing their existence.
The LHC is typically used just one month each year, but has been shut down over long periods for upgrades – it was last turned off in 2022 amid Europe’s energy crisis.
Firing up the LHC is a complex process, requiring everything to ‘work like an orchestra.’
Rende Steerenberg, in charge of control room operations at CERN in Switzerland, said in 2022: ‘This comes with a certain sense of tension, nervousness,’ he explained, adding that a lot can go wrong, including obstructions in the tunnel and issues with magnets.’

CERN is firing up on April 8th, the same day of the “X’; eclipse.
April 8th is also the same day Aleister Crowley claimed he first channeled an entity named Aiwass, whom he identified as Satan, on April 8, 1904.

Unless you’ve been living on another planet, there’s a good chance you already know that several US states will experience a total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024. Butler County, Ohio will experience a partial eclipse starting just before 2:00 pm and “totality” will begin at approximately 3:08 pm local time. The “totality” will last for approximately 3 minutes. A partial eclipse will then follow and continue until shortly after 4:00 pm.
On average, a total solar eclipse happens somewhere on Earth only once every 1.5 years and only 21 total solar eclipses have crossed the lower 48 states in the entire existence of the United States. The last total solar eclipse visible in Ohio was in 1806 and the next total solar eclipse in Ohio will be in 2099.

Carbondale was also along the path of totality in August 2017, and this year’s total eclipse will also pass over the Illinois town. SIU will host the Southern Illinois Eclipse Crossroads of America Festival from April 5-8.
CARBONDALE, Ill. – Eclipse chasers travel the world to witness a few minutes of a total solar eclipse, but for the town of Carbondale, Illinois, this rare astronomical wonder is happening twice in seven years right in their backyard.
On April 8, a total solar eclipse will be visible across parts of the U.S. from Texas to Maine. A total solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth, completely blocking the Sun’s face for several minutes. It will be the last time a total solar eclipse passes over a large part of the U.S. until 2044.

Maybe the Constitution of the US comes into question or the territory of the Anglo-American world power starts to diminish. As the BRICS alliance gets stronger, we might see the Western Empire begin to fade. The Napoleonic Wars (1803–1815) were a series of conflicts fought between the First French Empire under Napoleon and a fluctuating array of European coalitions. Now the French peacock Emmanuel Macron is puffing his chest against Russia while France will have the solar eclipse on April 8 at their Asc, putting the limelight on them in 2024.
Finally, 2024 is a solar maximum year. Studies have shown that these solar-cycle peaks result in human physiological and psychological responses such as increased anxiety and mood changes.

Where billions of cicadas will emerge this spring (and over the next decade), in one map
Cicadas will hear the call of spring. And then you’ll hear their mating calls, too.
For 17 years, cicadas do very little. They hang out in the ground, sucking sugar out of tree roots. Then, following this absurdly long hibernation, they emerge from the ground, sprout wings, make a ton of noise, have sex, and die within a few weeks. Then, their orphan progeny return to the ground and live the next 17 years in silence. Rarer are the 13-year cicadas, which do the same, but in a little more of a hurry — spending just 13 years underground.
Cicadas appear most years on the East Coast of the United States — sometimes ahead of schedule — but it’s a different 17- or 13-year crew that wakes up each time. (There are also, separately, some annual cicadas that emerge every year.)
This year, though, will be a rare event. Two groups — known as “broods” — are waking up during the same season. There will likely be billions, if not trillions, of the insects. According to NPR, the last time these two broods emerged at the same time was in 1803.
here’s the 17-year-group called Brood XIII, which is concentrated in Northern Illinois (brown on the map below), and the 13-year clutch, Brood XIX, which will emerge in Southern Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, and throughout the Southeast (see them in light blue on the map below).
Emerging in these humongous annual batches is likely an evolutionary strategy. There are so many cicadas swarming around all at once that their predators, such as birds and small mammals, can’t make a meaningful dent in their numbers. As Vox’s Benji Jones explains:
their defense strategy is to flood the forests so that predators, from blue jays to squirrels (and, during these eruptions, everything in between), become so full that they literally can’t stomach another bite. That leaves plenty of insects to mate and lay eggs that will become the next generation of 17-year cicadas.
There are many mysteries about cicadas — what’s with the prime numbers on their alarm clocks, and for that matter, how the hell do they keep time? What is known is that when the ground temperatures reach around 64 degrees Fahrenheit, they’ll emerge this spring, numbering in the billions. And if you live in the Eastern half of the United States, it’s likely another brood, and another and another, wait patiently underground, all to emerge for you in the years ahead.

Scientists found a 1,700 mile crack across the USA. Here’s what you need to know
Crack means quakes can happen across most of the country.
Is America at risk for Great earthquakes spanning across the full United States? “Cracks Across America”, in Rift zones, may conceal large fracture type faults where scientists may not be able to identify where these hidden fractures may unleash catastrophic earthquakes.
LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) – In Nov 1981, a study was published that rocked the scientific world, and sparked concern in FEMA circles, in which a 1,700 mile “Crack Across America” was discovered. Worse yet, this crack cuts through the New Madrid Seismic Zone, where in 1811 and 1812 three giant earthquakes devastatingly struck the center of America. Scientists have been struggling, since then, to answer the question of what risk this mega feature may pose to our heartland today. Recently, and less known, is a study from an independent geologic research set of work [2], that has identified a possible second “Crack Through America” that crosses into and through the same volatile New Madrid Seismic Zone.
The original 1,700 mile “Crack Across America” was found using modern day gravity mapping satellite data, and using computers, to process the measurements [1]. In 1981, Dr. Raymond E. Arvidson of Washington University in St. Louis used data processing techniques where 600,000 discrete gravity measurements, from 20 years of scientific data gathering, to synthesize a map. The results revealed an astonishing ancient rift in the North American crust that extends some 1,700 miles from Idaho to the southern Appalachian Mountains. New discoveries, from more recent research, has extended this “Crack” anomaly in where it combines with a MegaShear [3] zone to the middle of Washington State and possibly with the Olympic-Wallowa Lineament (OWL) [2] – which reaches to the Pacific Ocean near Port Angeles Washington. Thus the total length may total nearly 2,200 miles.
This ancient rift, estimated to be a billion years old, was dubbed the “Missouri Gravity Low” in the eastern most section of the “Crack Across America”. Another rift, 60 miles by 30 miles, underlying the Mississippi river valley, called the “Reelfoot Rift”, was found to cross through the Missouri Gravity Low and head to the northeast/southwest. These two rift zones intersect at the New Madrid Seismic Zone. Over 4,000 small earthquakes have been mapped within these intersecting “rift” regions since 1974.
A maverick geologist, Jack Reed, performed a study in mapping the frequency and location of larger magnitude earthquakes trending along the northeast trending lineament of the “ReelFoot Rift”. The resulting data indicated another concerning revelation – that a possible second “Crack Through America” connects the Reelfoot Rift with the well known St. Lawrence rift zone in Canada. Just as the New Madrid Seismic zone revealed its active potential in its “rift zones”, a magnitude 7.9 earthquake, in 1663, struck near Charlevoix and revealed its power in the St. Lawrence rift zone.
Perhaps a partial clue to what may link to the existence and nature of the “Crack Across America” and the “Crack Through America” is the Midcontinential Rift (MCR) System. Research has identified that a movement direction of the MCR, from tremendous intraplate pressure, forced a southern expansion of this large rift, where the southern edge traversed directly towards the New Madrid Seismic Zone. The Midcontinental Rift thus forms a horseshoe that straddles and reaches, by its tips, at or near the two major “Crack” lineaments. Intraplate pressure could be intensified into these intersecting lineaments, including the resulting pressure(s) at the New Madrid Seismic Zone.
What can make these – 70-90 mile wide and thousands of miles long – low gravity crack lineament features so dangerous is their hidden fractures, buried in the earth’s crust below. These low gravity areas are called “Rift zones” where the continental crust tried to pull itself apart, but failed. The thinning of the crust enabled lighter density young rock to intrude, thus resulting in the lower gravity characteristics in the rift zones. Other recent studies have suggested that the thinning of the crust may occur from the delamination of heavier crustal rock “falling” down into the earth’s mantle. However, in the case of linear features of these long distance “lineament rift zones”, the case of random delamination from “falling” into the mantle would not be able to explain these highly organized structures.
What is known, is that these linear rift zones have exhibited the ability to unleash very large earthquakes. This has been aptly demonstrated by the three 1811-1812 New Madrid M7-M8 earthquakes and the large 1663 M7.9 Charlevoix Earthquake. Since the regularity of such earthquakes are measured in centuries, scientists are unable to identify if any section of these linear rift zones may be at risk of a sudden large earthquake.
The bigger the length and depth of a buried fracture and its subsequent pressure induced release, the greater the chances for this rupture to unleash a giant earthquake. Indeed, the three 1811 to 1812 M7-M8 earthquakes had rupture release areas comparable to any single biggest locked segment of the San Andreas CA fault region could do – except in the New Madrid quakes, it did it all in the same location with each huge quake spaced only a month apart. With thousands of miles of possible buried fractures within these lineaments, it’s possible that changes in intraplate pressure may be all that is necessary to activate a segment. Another unanswered question is if Yellowstone Supervolcano is susceptible or interactive with this lineament. Indeed, in 2002, geologists observed distant triggering of earthquake swarming at Yellowstone from the M7.9 Denali Alaska earthquake [4]. As the Denali earthquake was 2,000 miles distant, what would happen if a large earthquake within a rift zone lineament was much closer to Yellowstone? Certainly it would be useful to know if there were any susceptible buried fractures in the nearby lineament that traverses near Yellowstone Supervolcano.
However, scientists are placed at a disadvantage, in earthquake risk assessment, since any hidden fractures are buried deep in what is called the “Midcontinental Basement”. Without having any data to the size, length, and number of any hidden fractures, it renders any risk analysis “blind”. Only a paleogeologic assessment of past locations, patterns, frequency, and magnitude of earthquakes are scientists able to form a type of a risk assessment. Compounding any risk assessment is understanding the rupture process of these hidden fractures. Scientists refer to these as “Intraplate earthquakes” as the quake occurs within the interior of a tectonic plate. Pressure, within the buried fracture (i.e. “fault”), may instigate an earthquake. GPS, strain sensors, and even inSAR (interferometric Synthetic Aperature Radar) are of no use to proffering answers to these questions as these fractures are inaccessible since they are deep below – while the sediment or crust above hides any telltale sign of crustal creep or stress.
Because of risk assessment uncertainty, FEMA and other emergency agencies are left to estimating the risk to America’s infrastructure based on a worst case paleogeologic history (i.e. the maximum at any moment). Indeed, in 1999, FEMA listed as one of the major top four hazards in the United States, as “catastrophic”, would be a giant earthquake striking the central U.S.
Because scientists are unable to predict the timing nor the location of the next large earthquake in these Rift zones, there is a difference of viewpoints, regarding cost tradeoffs of implementation and/or upgrades of rigorous seismic building codes, between the scientific community and the emergency management organizations. Complicating this situation is that earthquakes, that occur in the central or eastern United States, affect much larger areas than similar magnitudes in the western United States. The FEMA guide references that the 1906 M7.8 San Francisco CA earthquake was felt 350 miles away in the middle of Nevada. In contrast, the 1811 New Madrid Earthquake was reported to have rung church bells in Boston, Massachusetts, 1,000 miles away. Differences in the geologic makeup of the earth’s crust east and west of the Rocky Mountains are noted to be the cause of this stronger conduction of the earthquake’s P-waves and S-waves creating the distant shaking contrast.
As the rate of earthquakes have been increasing in the New Madrid Seismic Zone and in other parts of the Central United States, such as in Oklahoma, there are concerns that intraplate tectonic pressure may be driving these trends. Other areas, such as the Wabash Valley and East Tennessee Seismic zones also produce earthquakes on a regular basis. Quoting from the CUSEC – “Depending on earthquake magnitude and location, each of these zones could impact multiple states, causing major physical, social and economic disruption in a region that is home to more than forty million people.”… “On April 18, 2008, a magnitude 5.4 earthquake struck near Mt. Carmel, Illinois. This relatively minor earthquake was felt in 28 states and Canada and was responsible for an estimated $3 million in non-structural damages and damaged at least 240 structures in Illinois alone. The Mt. Carmel earthquake shows the widespread impact a larger earthquake might have on the region”

X Marks the Spot – Forty Days of Teshuvah and the Eclipse on August 21, 2017
In light of all the signs converging in the Fall of 2017, it would be wise to consider the solar eclipse on August 21, 2017 as beginning a period of high alert. This period would extend until at least September 30, 2017. It’s possible that this time-frame could include the beginning of wars, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, and the like. I would personally suggest preparing at least a month’s worth of food, water, medication, and first aid supplies. Consider the possibility of being without electricity, internet, or cell phones.
Eclipses are neat. They generate a lot of excitement and speculation. However, I don’t normally put much stock in them prophetically – and here’s why. Eclipses happen frequently (a total solar eclipse happens somewhere every 18 months), they can only be viewed by small sections of the world, and nowhere are eclipses specifically mentioned in scripture. Yes, there are several dark sun / blood moon and dark sun / dark moon prophecies. However, these signs occur together in scripture (usually along with stars falling or stars being darkened as well). We know from the simple definition of eclipses that a solar eclipse and a lunar eclipse can’t occur at the same time. So the passages that involve a darkened sun and a blood red or darkened moon, with accompanying darkened or falling stars, must refer to a different phenomenon than eclipses (such as global atmospheric ash or smoke).

I’m not trying to rain on anyone’s parade here, but as a Biblical literalist, I look to Scripture to verify ANYTHING and EVERYTHING that ANYONE claims is prophetic. Reading current events into prophetic scripture is dangerous where no CLEAR link is seen. At best, it generates excitement for nothing, but at worst it leads people away from true Biblical prophecy.
The most recent example of this is the “blood moon tetrad” from 2014-5. Each lunar eclipse fell on a Hebrew feast day (April 15, 2014 – Passover; October 8, 2014 – Feast of Tabernacles; April 4, 2015 – Passover; September 28, 2015 – Feast of Tabernacles). Notably, none of these holidays included the Feast of Trumpets, which is the next feast in line to be prophetically fulfilled (nor Pentecost, if that one will be dual fulfilled).
People claimed that significant events had happened in Jewish history in years surrounding previous blood moon tetrads. When I looked into this, I found that sometimes the event occurred before the eclipse and sometimes after, and sometimes the time gap between the event and the eclipse was up to 1 year long. This makes it quite a nonspecific sign that is easier to identify in hindsight….in other words, not a very good prophetic sign at all.
I personally feel that God is very clear when He wants to send a sign. So…. the “blood moon tetrad” of 2014-5 came and went, with no wars or temples or covenants or raptures. Currently, some people are identifying that these eclipses may have been pointing to the Revelation 12 sign all along, but again, this is coming in hindsight. I find it interesting, but not compelling.
So with that stern warning in mind, let’s take a look at the August 21, 2017 solar eclipse occurring over the USA.
Nineveh and the Sign of Jonah
I am not aware of any previous solar eclipses being claimed as significant in recent history. However, it does appear that God has possibly used a solar eclipse at least once to bolster the message of His prophet. Around the time of the prophet Jonah, there was a solar eclipse over the area which would have included the city of Nineveh. If you recall, Jonah was sent there (after his initial rebellion and the whole big fish scenario) to warn the king and the city’s inhabitants that if they did not repent within 40 days, that God would destroy Nineveh. The people repented, and God forgave them. The city was not destroyed.
There is no proof that the solar eclipse occurred on the day when Jonah went to the city, and some suggest that the eclipse occurred a month before Jonah arrived. It cannot even been conclusively proven this eclipse occurred the same year that Jonah went to Nineveh. There is no corroborating scripture to indicate that the eclipse occurred in Jonah’s lifetime at all, although secular data suggests he lived in the corresponding time frame. The solar eclipse over Nineveh may have been coincident and may have given additional weight to Jonah’s message. We just don’t know. If it were important that we knew, God would have told us.
The August 21, 2017 solar eclipse has nothing to do with the “sign of Jonah”. The sign of Jonah CLEARLY was that just as Jonah was in the belly of the fish for 3 days and 3 nights, Jesus would spend 3 days and 3 nights in the grave (Matthew 12:38-45). The Bible does not suggest further meaning beyond this. Where scripture is silent, it’s usually best to be silent.
I believe that the recent popularity of comparing the August 21, 2017 USA solar eclipse to the days of Jonah is an error.
Repentance = Wrath Withheld
The main issue I have with comparing the Aug 21 2017 eclipse with Jonah, besides the lack of corroborating scriptural evidence, is that in Jonah’s day God had a specific mouthpiece with a specific message. And the message was that obedience = no wrath. If this message were being paralleled today, then it would be clearly revealed and repentance would stay God’s wrath. If you have read the book of Revelation, you know that even if the entire country of America repents, God’s wrath is coming upon the whole world anyways (although individual believers, of course, would be spared).
The other issue I have with claiming the Aug 21 2017 eclipse is a warning sign from God, is that since God’s wrath will be worldwide in scope, the warning should be too. If the eclipse were over Finland, or Australia, instead of the USA, would people assign the same weight to it? It’s one thing to interpret it as a sign; it’s another thing entirely to claim a specific message from God attached to it where He has been silent.
Is the August 21, 2017 Eclipse Significant?
So… I don’t believe the August 21, 2017 eclipse is a repeat of the sign of Jonah. Nor do I believe it is found in scripture. HOWEVER, this doesn’t mean that it isn’t significant. The timing of this eclipse, when taken in conjunction with a number of other signs, does seem to possibly contain meaning. Other converging signs include:
- Israel, the fig tree, “leafed out” in 1948. The generation that won’t pass away before “all these things are fulfilled” – from the fig tree budding to the second coming of Jesus Christ – would end somewhere between 2017 (using 360-day-year prophetic counts) and 2028 (using standard year counts).
- The Revelation 12 Sign is set to occur September 23, 2017.
- The Giza Pyramid Sign is set to occur September 20, 2017.
- The Third Temple is ready to be set up at a moment’s notice.
- More nonspecific signs (general violence, sexual immorality, homosexuality, DNA manipulation, increased transportation, increased knowledge, decreased morality, increased scoffing and mocking, decline in sound doctrine in the church) have been in place for a while now.
So let’s examine a summary of the eclipse:
- The total solar eclipse will begin in Oregon and end in South Carolina
- The eclipse will appear to travel from West to East, or some such thing – see the NASA animation HERE, resulting in it looking like a “black sun rising”
- The path of the eclipse in 2017 appears to follow a fault line called the “1,700 mile Crack Across America”.
- Interestingly, in ~ 7 years another total solar eclipse will cross the USA, this time in the opposite direction. However, I will point out that the eclipse on April 8, 2024 does NOT fall on any significant dates (Passover is April 23, 2024, but the significant days that year would be possibly Feast of Trumpets, October 3, 2024 and/or Yom Kippur, October 12, 2024). It may be apparent to those around that time what it might signify.
- Between the two eclipses, a giant X is formed over the contiguous United States.
- The April 2024 eclipse also follows the path of a Fault Line – the “Missouri Gravity Low”.
- I don’t put much stock in numbers analysis and the specific towns the eclipse covers (as the towns it crosses that no one finds significant are omitted from the list…). I find the X across America along fault lines very interesting. I can’t foresee significance to the April 8, 2024 date. A possible connection might be establishment of the mark of the beast system on this date, but that might be a big stretch.
A Season of Repentance
I do see significance with the August 21, 2024 date as it occurs exactly 40 days from Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement). 40 is a frequently used number in the Bible as a time of testing, such as the 40 years of wandering in the wilderness, Jesus’ 40 days fasting in the desert, and Moses’ 40 days meetings with God on Mount Sinai.
This 40 day season coincides with the Season of Teshuvah, which in Jewish religion is a time of repentance before the Day of Judgment. (Think of it as a Jewish parallel to the Catholic practice of 40 days of Lent). As a human tradition, it does not carry the weight of one of the Feasts of God. However, when we dive into a study of the month of Elul and the Season of Teshuvah, we start to uncover some interesting facts.
The month of Elul precedes the month of Tishrei, wherein we find the Fall Feasts which are next to be fulfilled prophetically (perhaps this Fall!). From Jewish FAQ, an orthodox Jewish site (bolding mine):
The month of Elul is a time of repentance in preparation for the High Holidays of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Tradition teaches that the month of Elul is a particularly propitious time for repentance. This mood of repentance builds through the month of Elul to the period of Selichot, to Rosh Hashanah, and finally to Yom Kippur. According to tradition, the month of Elul is the time that Moses spent on Mount Sinai preparing the second set of tablets after the incident of the golden calf (Ex. 32; 34:27-28). He ascended on Rosh Chodesh Elul and descended on the 10th of Tishri, at the end of Yom Kippur, when repentance was complete. Other sources say that Elul is the beginning of a period of 40 days that Moses prayed for G-d to forgive the people after the Golden Calf incident, after which the commandment to prepare the second set of tablets was given. During the month of Elul, from the second day of Elul to the 28th day, the shofar (a hollowed out ram’s horn) is blown after morning services every weekday. See Rosh Hashanah for more information about the shofar and its characteristic blasts. The shofar is not blown on Shabbat. It is also not blown on the day before Rosh Hashanah to make a clear distinction between the rabbinical rule of blowing the shofar in Elul and the biblical mitzvah to blow the shofar on Rosh Hashanah. Four blasts are blown: tekiah, shevarim-teruah, tekiah. Rambam explained the custom of blowing shofar as a wake-up call to sleepers, designed to rouse us from our complacency. It is a call to repentance. The blast of the shofar is a very piercing sound when done properly.
At Hebrew4Christians, a Messianic Jewish site, we learn some more interesting information. According to Jewish historians, Moses actually ascended on Mount Sinai THREE times for forty days and forty nights. His first ascent was on Shavuot (Pentecost), 50 days after the Exodus (Passover). This is when Moses received the 10 Commandments and the Torah. He descended, saw the Israelites worshiping the golden calf, and smashed the tablets. The next day, he burned the golden calf and made them drink it. He then re-ascended Mount Sinai the following day and interceded for God’s mercy on Israel for 40 days. He descended without an answer from God. God called Moses the following day to ascend Mount Sinai a third time, where the second set of tablets was completed along with the Torah. Moses then descended on Yom Kippur (Tishrei 10) with God’s assurance of forgiveness. God’s timing is never arbitrary.
The process of the giving of God’s covenant of the Law both began on Shauvot (type), and was confirmed on Shauvot (Pentecost – fulfillment). While the Old Testament understanding was the “letter of the Law”, the New Testament understanding is the “spirit of the Law”. In the Millennial Kingdom (Feast of Tabernacles), Jesus’ rod-of-iron-rule would appear to include both the letter AND the spirit of the Law.
The last 40-day period of Moses on Mount Sinai is what is commemorated as the Forty Days of Teshuvah. This is a season of repentance and “soul-searching”. The theme verse is Isaiah 55:6 – Seek the Lord while he may be found; call upon him while he is near. The 40 days includes the entire month of Elul, then culminates in the first 10 Days of Tishrei. These are the 10 Days of Awe between the Feast of Trumpets and the Day of Atonement, during which one’s eternal fate is believed to be “sealed”.
Conclusion
Due to the August 21, 2017 eclipse’s timing (starting the 40 days of Teshuvah) and its’ proximity to the Great Sign on September 23, 2017, I believe it’s a wise idea to do some serious soul-searching to examine yourself and see if you are in the faith (2 Corinthians 13:5). Preparations (food, water, medical supplies) to enter “the time of birth pangs” is probably wise as well. Even if there was only a 1% chance, wouldn’t you want to be prepared?

Everest-sized ‘Devil comet’ tonight: How to see the once-in-a-lifetime 2024 event
The ‘unused building block of the Solar System’ is hurtling towards the Sun, leaving behind a trail of dust and gas. If you’re lucky, you might just catch a glimpse.

As we speak, the comet 12P/Pons-Brooks (Pons-Brooks, for short) is making its way around the inner region of the Solar System for the first time in more than 70 years – and might soon become visible to the naked eye.
At approximately 30 kilometres (19 miles) across, this giant icy lump is comparable in size to Mount Everest, says astrophysicist Dr Paul Strøm, and is “one of the brightest known periodic comets”.
A Halley-type comet, Pons-Brooks completes its journey around the Sun every 71.3 years and was last spotted in our skies in 1954.
Although it wasn’t officially named until its discovery by Frenchman Jean-Louis Pons in 1812 and subsequent rediscovery by the British-American William Robert Brooks in 1883, the first recorded sightings of the comet actually date back as far as 1385.
When can I see the 12P/Pons-Brooks comet?
The 12P/Pons-Brooks comet can be seen tonight and can be seen up to 21 April 2024. It will be best visible towards the end of March.
If you’ve got a pair of binoculars or a small telescope knocking about, you should be able to see Comet Pons-Brooks already. It started the month in the western evening sky, just below the Andromeda Galaxy and is steadily moving through the tip of the constellation of Pisces.
Towards the end of the month, Comet Pons-Brooks will move along the line of brighter stars in Aries, approximately in the direction of Jupiter. It may brighten towards the end of the month, reaching naked-eye visibility if you find a dark spot on a clear enough night.
“In particular, on the 31 March 12P/Pons–Brooks will be only 0.5 degrees from the bright star called Hamal, equivalent to a full moon diameter away,” which should make it easier to spot, Strøm says.

For those in the US, the comet might also be visible in the sky during the total solar eclipse on 8 April 2024.
Comet Pons-Brooks is expected to reach its perihelion – the point at which it is closest to the Sun – on 21 April, by which point it will have disappeared into the sunset, literally. After swinging around the Sun, the comet will be much dimmer and only observable to those in the Southern Hemisphere.
Why is it called a ‘devil’ comet?
It’s not the first time Pons-Brooks has been visible in recent months – the astute amongst you may remember the so-called ‘Devil Comet’ that was spotted in July 2023 is this very comet.
Pons-Brooks is what’s known as a cryovolcanic comet, meaning that every so often it randomly erupts (like a volcano), spewing out dust, gas and ice into the surrounding space. When it did this last year, it instantaneously became 100 times brighter, with the outburst forming a devil-horned shape – hence the name.The reason this bizarre eruption occurs is that as the comet gets closer to the Sun, it warms up, meaning that the icy material can vaporise and rupture out from beneath the surface as the pressure builds.
The gas then forms part of the bright coma, which is the halo of evaporated material that surrounds the solid nucleus.
“When we look at a comet, we are looking at sunlight reflecting off this kind of fog, so comets are at their brightest when they are closest to the Sun,” Dr Darren Baskill, astronomer lecturer at the University of Sussex, tells BBC Science Focus.
“But then the bright sunlight also restricts our view, so the best time to observe a comet is a bit of a trade-off between the two.”
As the comet streams along, it leaves a tail of glowing material behind it that reflects the sunlight too. These tails can stretch for millions of kilometres and can be shaped by charged particles from the Sun – known as ‘solar wind’ – as they interact with it.
The comet exhibited similar outbursts on 5 October, 1 November, 14 December and most recently 18 January – albeit less dramatic ones.
The closer the comet gets to the Sun, the more intense this activity can become, which is why the comet appears to brighten.
What does the 12P mean?
Pons and Brooks are easy to make sense of, right? They’re named after people who discovered it. But what’s with the alien numbers and letters often associated with comets?
“The 12P in the comet’s name is because this was the 12th comet that was observed to periodically return,” explains Baskill.
“Comets originate from the very edge of our solar system, and so some have orbital periods of tens of thousands of years or even more, and are never seen to return.”
Short-period comets like Pons-Brooks, on the other hand, take less than 200 years to return to the inner Solar System.
Perhaps the most famous of the short-period comets is Halley’s Comet, which has a similar period to Pons-Brooks of around 75 years. Sadly, Halley’s Comet isn’t expected to return until 2061, so you’ll have to wait a little longer to spot that marvel.
According to NASA, the current number of known comets (short and long period) is about 3,910, although astronomers estimate there could be as many as a trillion – that’s a 1 with 12 zeros after it – out there in the Solar System.
When is the next comet?
Keep your eyes peeled in June and July for the 13P/Olbers comet, which may be visible with binoculars for Northern Hemisphere observers. This comet is another Halley-type comet with an orbital period around the Sun of 69 years.
Later on in 2024, the C/2023 A3 comet will be making its way to the inner Solar System – this one could be a cracker. Reaching peak brightness in September and October, experts think C/2023 A3 has the potential to rival some of the brightest stars in the sky, which could earn it the esteemed title of “Great Comet”.

You Can See a Rare, Bright Comet This Month. Will It Be Visible During the Solar Eclipse?

A bright comet that only appears once—maybe twice—in a lifetime is currently on its way through our solar system. Called 12P/Pons-Brooks, the city-sized comet has already made headlines for bright outbursts over the past several months. And now, some astronomers are speculating it could appear in the darkened sky during the total solar eclipse on April 8, provided the comet is glowing brightly enough.
Right now, the comet can only be seen with binoculars or a telescope. But in the coming weeks, it might become visible with the naked eye. Here’s what you need to know about the rare “dirty snowball.”
What is Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks?
Measuring roughly 18 miles in diameter, Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks is a ball of dust, rock and ice that orbits the sun once roughly every 71 years. Because its orbital period falls between 20 and 200 years, it is known as a Halley-type comet, calling to mind the famous comet that last passed Earth in 1986 and left enough debris to give us several meteor showers today.
But Pons-Brooks isn’t your standard comet—it’s a cold volcano. It intermittently lets out blasts of gas in frigid conditions, known as cryovolcanic activity, and these outbursts can lead it to glow more brightly. After one such explosion last July, the coma—or cloud of vapor and dust around the comet’s rocky core—expanded to more than 7,000 times the size of the comet itself, Richard Miles of the British Astronomical Association told Live Science’s Harry Baker at the time.
This outburst caused the coma to take on a horseshoe-like shape, leading some to term it the “horned” comet—or even the “devil’s comet.”
The comet’s many trips around the sun have a long history of astounding human observers. Chinese astronomers may have spotted Pons-Brooks in 1385, and an Italian astronomer may have glimpsed it in 1457. But its two-part name comes from observations made in 1812 and 1883, first by French astronomer Jean-Louis Pons and then by American astronomer William Brooks.
How to see the ‘horned’ comet
This month, Pons-Brooks has appeared to move through the constellation Andromeda, and now, it’s setting out on a path past Pisces and Aries.
To spot it, look low on the northwestern horizon after sunset. As the month goes on, the comet will set earlier, so the best time to look for it will be just after it gets dark.
While Pons-Brooks is a bright comet, it will most easily be seen in dark skies. “If you have a half-decent pair of binoculars, certainly attempt to look for it with those,” Robert Massey, the deputy executive director of the Royal Astronomical Society in London, tells the Guardian’s Nicola Davis. “You want to avoid haze, you want to avoid moonlight, you want to avoid light pollution.”
As it makes its way across the sky, Pons-Brooks will appear to pass by a few notable celestial objects, making it easier to find on certain evenings. For instance, it will appear near the star Hamal, the brightest in the constellation Aries, on March 31. And from April 12 to 14, it can be seen very close to Jupiter. Regardless, using a night sky app can help you get oriented and find where the comet should be.
But the best time to see Pons-Brooks will be around April 21, when it will pass its nearest point to the sun, known as perihelion, and shine the most brightly. Look for the comet in the constellation Taurus.
Then, as the icy ball keeps moving, it will come even closer to Earth, crossing the point in its path nearest to our planet on June 2 and appearing in the constellation Lepus. But by that time, it will only be visible in the Southern Hemisphere, per New Scientist’s Abigail Beall.
Will the comet be visible during the solar eclipse?
During totality on April 8, skies will darken to a level resembling twilight, making some bright objects visible at a time they normally would be obscured by the sun. At this time, Pons-Brooks will lie above and to the left of the sun, near Jupiter.
Specifically, it should be about 21 degrees away from the sun, or roughly the amount of sky covered by both your fists held at arm’s length.
The comet has potential to appear during the eclipse, but some experts caution it might not be easily visible.

“I don’t want people to get disappointed if they don’t see the comet,” Rosita Kokotanekova, a planetary scientist at the Institute of Astronomy and National Astronomical Observatory at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, says to Scientific American’s Meghan Bartels. “If people expect to see something extremely bright on a fully dark sky, I think that unless we’re very [lucky] with an outburst, it will be more challenging than that.”
Amateur astronomer and comet expert John Bortle takes an even less optimistic view about seeing the comet during totality, per Space.com’s Joe Rao. “I would think that much more a fantasy than anything else,” he tells the publication.
But in a sense, that might be for the best. While it could be fun to try to spot the comet during the eclipse, the spectacular phenomenon lasts for only a few minutes. During that short, rare moment, it might be most valuable to just focus on the sun and its ethereal corona.
“Whether you want to tear your eyes away from the eclipsed sun to look around is up to you,” writes EarthSky’s Kelly Kizer Whitt. “No matter how many minutes totality lasts, it will feel like it’s flying by.”

Expect all of April to be a time of heightened potential for excitable energetics, especially around the solar eclipse on the 8th. This eclipse pathway is connecting matrices of the fourth dimension with the elements of form which we know as ‘life on Earth’. The lines drawn under the eclipse pathway are markers of new landscape to come forward within the evolution of a New Earth. Do not underestimate how far we have come in our journey to this exciting new phase.
With this eclipse so close to the power date of which I have been given as ✨24.04.24✨ then expect incredible things to come into formation of mind and physicality, perhaps through creative methods or sudden knowings or opportunity, as the new earth energies prepare to make an entrance.

The Blue Star Kachina: A Hopi Prophecy
The Blue Star Kachina is said to be the ninth and final sign before the “Day of Purification”, described as an apocalypse
The Blue Star Katsina prophecy is a Hopi revelation about the coming end of civilization on
Earth. The prophecy describes a heavenly being called the Blue Star whose arrival on Earth will
signal the beginning of the end times.
The Blue Star Katsina has a twin brother, the Red Star Katsina, whose arrival will come later,
bringing about the destruction of most life on Earth. According to the prophecy, the Hopi will
survive the apocalypse in an underground refuge and resurface when the time is right.
Hopi Prophecy
Hopi cosmology describes nine universes with inhabited worlds similar to Earth. Each of these
worlds follows the same pattern of corruption, destruction and rebirth with the Hopi waiting out
the apocalypse in underground caverns. The Hopi then repopulate each world with people who
are pure of heart. According to this cosmology, three of the nine worlds have already undergone
this transformation with Earth being the fourth.
The prophecy is specific about how the Red Star Katsina will destroy civilization on Earth. When
the end time comes the sky will turn blood red and horrible creatures will walk the Earth, some
without souls and others with no recognizable form. All life on the surface of the planet will have
a grotesque, perverted appearance, but the members of the Hopi will remain safe in their
underground refuge.
A being called the True White Brother will then come to judge the Hopi survivors. If he judges
them to be worthy of inhabiting the new world, he will let them live. If he finds none among them
upholding the ancient Hopi ways, he will destroy the Earth.
Similarity to Other Apocalyptic Revelations
Prophecies from other world religions describe similar events leading to the end of civilization.
For example, the Book of Revelations in the Bible contains the story of Armageddon in which
the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse bring conquest, war, famine and death to Earth’s
inhabitants.
Indigenous peoples all over the world tell similar stories based on the revelations of their
spiritual elders. Likewise, major world religions from Hinduism to Islam predict apocalyptic
destruction and planetary renewal following a day of judgment.
Understanding the Prophecy in Context
Leading up to 2012, the Mayan prophecy of the Long Count Calendar became a global fixation.
People all over the world misunderstood this prophecy as a historical doomsday revelation.
When the world didn’t end in 2012, the news media declared a victory of reason over
superstition, making the same mistake as the prophecy’s believers.
The mistake is putting mythology in the same category of information as fact. Indigenous
peoples, such as the Hopi, don’t hold a rationalistic Western worldview. Their prophecies tell
the truth of the heart, which transcends historical truth in the same way that the unconscious mind
transcends the ego.
Like the unconscious mind, this heart truth is vital, immutable, and much more powerful than any
specific historical fact. The Hopi prophecy of the Blue Star Katsina points to an archetypal truth
that is contained in every moment and not merely one specific point in time

As you’ll notice, during the exodus from Egypt, when God was teaching the Israelites his calendar and Sabbaths, for the first 3 months, the Sabbath always fell on the 15th day of the month after the new moon day. Learn from this. The 15th of every luni solar month is always a full moon.
