Magnitude 8 1 Earthquake Strikes Southern Mexico and Central and Guatemala

Magnitude 8 1 Earthquake Strikes Southern Mexico, Central America and Guatemala –

Mexico has suffered its strongest earthquake in a century, leaving at least six people dead, sparking mass evacuations and prompting warnings of tsunamis across the region.
The magnitude 8.2 quake occurred 165km west of the state of Chiapas just before midnight on Thursday local time. Initial waves 1m over tide level were recorded at the Mexican city of Salina Cruz by the Pacific tsunami warning centre. They predicted waves between 0.3 and 1 metres for the Cook Islands, Ecuador, El Salvador, Fiji, French Polynesia, Guatemala and Kiribati.
Waves below 0.3 metres were forecast for countries as far as Australia, Japan and Vietnam. The tsunami threat to Hawaii, Guam and American Samoa was ruled out. The Guardian – The flaring around region 2673 continues today (Friday, Sept. 8). The very active region produced a strong M8.1 flare at 0749 UTC. Another strong flare will be very possible during the next 24 hours.
With each passing hour, region 2673 rotates closer towards the west limb and the chances for an Earth directed eruption will decrease because of this. Radio Blackout LOCATION OF HF FADEOUT: SE Asia/China/India/Indian Ocean/Sthn Africa/South Africa (RSA)/Central Africa/North Africa/Western.
